Unrealised Projects Volume 4:
a considered conclusion to a journey into material

With an intervention introduced by Josh Love, we've attempted to develop several ideas submitted to Volume 4 into material form through a process of practical and speculative discussions with each artist. With the promise to develop the works from 'being' into 'event', we've become experimental producers. Decisive meandering, stuttering momentum, moments of inspiration and conceptual semantics drove a shared goal to discover what the works might say once forced from the page and into form for a one night event at Milton Keynes Gallery during Scratch Nights, Feb. 10, 2011.
Decisive meandering, stuttering momentum, moments of inspiration and conceptual semantics drove a shared goal to discover what the works might say once forced from the page and into form for a one night event.

And the partially productive, partially wasteful, partially circular, partially disruptive distance between intention and realisation will be reflected through a graphic score produced and performed by sound artists Jonny Hill and Edward Simpson on the night of the event. Conceptual impetus, moral rights, production value, intention, time and budget: a multiplicity of motivations driven by an overall process that seems to reflect the messy jumble of factors that determine how a work actually develops and how its legitimacy can be read in the imperfect conditions of its making.

This project is based in time and this is what we know at this moment.

Book Launch
This publication focuses on Volume 4 and is produced on the occasion of the closing event at MK Gallery as part of Scratch Nights. The book is unusually split in two halves to represent two stages of the project that we call 'Being' and 'Event'. Some artists took up the challenge to have their works 'made', others did not.
And we've designed the book in two halves to reflect this relationship.
